Renamed the Leyland Princess, the 18-22 range had a few cosmetic differences as well. This is a 1978-model 2200 HLS, at the top of the range.

In fact, Leyland Cars made some cost savings with the introduction of the Princess range. The seven models of the old 18-22 range were cut back to four, and the humped bonnet of the Morris and Wolseley versions disappeared in favour of the Austin-style flat bonnet. The new Princess now came as an 1800, 1800HL, 2200HL or 2200HLS; the 1800s had twin headlamps, and the 6-cylinder 2200s had trapezoidal headlamps. All of them had a crown badge on the bonnet and the Princess name on the grille, together with black vinyl covers for the rearmost body pillars.
